Philosophy in Psychiatry
Welcome and thank you for visiting my psychiatry
website. Choosing a psychiatrist in Orange County is a difficult task
and this website is meant to answer questions that you may have
about psychiatry. When I decided to become a psychiatrist in
Orange
County, I envisioned it to be a career commitment where I
would provide patients with the highest quality
of psychiatric care
at
an affordable fee. I am a board certified psychiatrist.
I consider myself a person-oriented psychiatrist, not simply just
problem or symptom-oriented, as I believe that illnesses affect a
person as a whole and that people are not just a set of
symptoms. A colleague once told me he believed there are
two types of psychiatrist, one that focuses on quantity and one that
focuses on quality. Because my goal is to create long lasting
relationships, I make every effort to deliver quality psychiatric
treatment. I make sure there is time in my schedule for my
patients' needs. I do not try to fill my day with as many patients
as possible.
In my care, I hope that patients will not feel like just a name on a list to be
seen. I take great pride in trying to understand my patients and the
issues that are important to them. Patients are seen at the time they are
scheduled and not 10 minutes or 30 minutes after that time, as I
believe their time is just as important as mine.
I am a psychopharmacologist, a fancy word for a psychiatrist who
specializes in understanding how psychiatric medications work. I
am a firm believer that not every problem needs medication. I believe
that medication is one option. If medication may be helpful, my job is
to educate my patients about the risks and benefits of that medication. I take a non-judgmental and
compassionate approach. I make efforts to
keep up-to-date with the safety and
effectiveness information of psychiatric medications so I can keep my
patients informed.
Psychiatric Private Practice
Although I treat all adult psychiatric conditions, my
main focus and passion are in treating depression, bipolar, and anxiety. I have a flexible schedule and patients
can often come in for the initial psychiatric evaluation within days of
their call. For patients' convenience, there are late
evening hours available also.
I am more than happy to speak with you, so don't hesitate to contact me.
Training in Psychiatry
My four years of formal psychiatric training in adult
psychiatry was at University of California, Irvine Residency Program in
Psychiatry. In terms of my experience working in psychiatry, I have
taken care of psychiatric patients in a variety of psychiatric
settings. I have taken care of patients in: 1) psychiatric inpatient
hospitals, 2) long term psychiatric care facilities, 3) outpatient
county facilities, 4) psychiatric urgent care facility, and 5)
outpatient setting.
